In this paper the different results coming from the three-dimensional morphometric characterization and the evolution of the médanos systems in the Salamanca Island National Natural Park (Atlantic department) in
the Colombian Caribbean are presented. The made analyses included an estimate of the superficial changes of the medanos (4.238 m/year of retreate rate) that had place in the years 2005 and 2008 based on the terrain information (DTM) obtained with the LIDAR sensor, as well as an evaluation of the retreate rate of the coast line based on aerial photographies of 1961 and the orthophotomosaic of 2008 (5.70 m/year). Finally, was carried out an estimate of the samd volume corresponding to the active medanos in a specific sector for 2005 and 2008 and the volumetric balance was quantified through a DTM difference.
