Pursuing the goal of strengthen the production and broadcasting management of the mapping and geographic products of the country, the Agustín Codazzi Geographic Institute Geographical and Mapping Subdirection has deve oped the
"Geographic and Mapping Information Sistem - GEOCARTO" project, whose main mission is to manage, preserve
and broadcast the information of the mapping and geographic production process.
GEOCARTO is designed and built conceptually by modules, the higlights are: aereal pictures, geodesical contro points, geographic names, mapping products and geographic products.
The Web Portal is under an Open Source portlet container platform, Jboss Portal, whose architecture also includes technologies such J2EE, Hibernate RichFaces, Oracle, LDAP and Argis Server for space data management.
