Abstract

In order to recognize the flooded areas during the winter of 2010-2011 in different regions of Colombia, was used inputs from remote sensing images and processes are carried out with methods of extracting the relevant identification information used to estimate affected areas. Using data collected by remote sensing can see wide expanses of the materialization of a phenomenon like this and so it is displayed that can cause damage. To reach a methodologicalapproachandto proposestepstotake in the recognition of flooded areas was considered semi-automated methods with thematic review and visual interpretation of floods with different images from optical and radar sensors. Besides extracting specific information is unable to assess the type of sensors and image information for different regions of the country, leading to different methods used and therefore to conclude that it must perform a systematic process appropriate for the sensor data to used, the characteristics of each region to study and knowledge on a variety of topics such as: water behavior, geomorphological, geological, floor and flood disaster recovery thereof.
